Mafate tells the story of Luna, a young Creole girl who, after spending her entire life in mainland France, returns to her native island, Réunion, to comfort her grandmother following her grandfather’s passing. She finds herself in the Réunion of the 1970s, witnessing the first delivery route of a man who would become a legend—the Mafate mail carrier.
